Kinetoscope is an interactive video installation that allows users to control the motion of a living, illustrated city. From the outside, the Kinetoscope is a free-standing red booth with a curtained viewfinder and hand crank. When a participant lifts up the curtain and peers inside, she finds an invented city resting precariously on the head of crane. As soon as the hand crank is turned, the image comes to life — the direction and velocity of the crank affecting the city accordingly.

A collaboration with Leah Beeferman.
Sound by Bennett Barbakow.

FlickR shots of Kinetoscope are here and more information about the piece is available here.
